Bean has been developing an outcome measure using the PARTicipation Survey in Major Life Activities (PARTS) (General) and also the PARTS-Layered for an assistive technology recycling and reuse program offered at four local centers for independent living.
Joy Cadelina
Cadelina has used the PARTicipation Survey in Major Life Activities (Layered) to track outcomes of an educational intervention for people with disabilities who use personal assistants. She also has been designing an intervention for training personal assistants at a center for independent living.
Hillarie Christley
Christley has been developing an outcome measure using the PARTicipation Survey in Major Life Activities (PARTS) (General) and also the PARTS-Layered for peer counseling programs offered at a local center for independent living. Her goal is to use the PARTS-Layered, CPPRS, and Community Resource Index (CRI) to examine the return to community living of individuals who have had spinal cord injuries.
Chiaki Gonda
Gonda is currently working on the R-5 project, “CIL Services Effect on Community Participation,” and R-7, “Effects of an Information and Skills Training Package on Increasing Community Participation of Consumers with Mobility-Related Disabilities.” Her research interests include enhancing community participation for people with disabilities and the effects of secondary conditions on community participation.
Shelby Kamenstein
Kamenstein has been developing an outcome measure using the PARTicipation Survey in Major Life Activities (PARTS) (General) and also the PARTS-Layered for a housing program offered at a local center for independent living. Her long-range plan is to develop a behavioral intervention to change behaviors and attitudes of people without disabilities who live in communities where people with disabilities live. The Community Participation and Perceived Receptivity Survey (CPPRS) will be used to do a pre- and post-test of changes.
Annie Kernodle
Kernodle has been developing an outcome measure using the PARTicipation Survey in Major Life Activities (PARTS) (General) and also the PARTS-Layered for a transition from institutional living to community residence program offered at a local center for independent living.
Molly Listenberger
Listenberger developed and tested a health care facility version for the Community Health Environment Checklist (CHEC).
Emily Marty
Marty has been developing an outcome measure using the PARTicipation Survey in Major Life Activities (PARTS) (General) and also the PARTS-Layered for employment programs offered at a local independent living center. She is translating PARTS, Community Participation and Perceived Receptivity Survey (CPPRS), and Community Health Environment Checklist (CHEC) into French for a 2008 test in France.

Pirkl has been developing an outcome measure using the PARTicipation Survey in Major Life Activities (PARTS) (General) and also the PARTS-Layered for education programs offered at a local center for independent living for individuals with intellectual impairments.
Laura Spanel
Spanel has been developing an outcome measure using the PARTicipation Survey in Major Life Activities (PARTS) (General) and also the PARTS-Layered for youth and family programs offered at a local center for independent living. She plans to conduct focus groups to examine the cultural sensitivity of the PARTS-Layered, Community Participation and Perceived Receptivity Survey (CPPRS), and Community Health Environment Checklist (CHEC) for Spanish-speaking people living in the United States and Latin America.
Danica Steinle
Steinle has been developing an outcome measure using the PARTicipation Survey in Major Life Activities (PARTS) (General) and also the PARTS-Layered for legislative advocacy programs offered at a local center for independent living.
Amanda Triollet
Triollet has been developing an outcome measure using the PARTicipation Survey in Major Life Activities (PARTS) (General) and also the PARTS-Layered for deaf and hard of hearing programs at a local center for independent living. She will use focus groups to examine the cultural sensitivity of the PARTS-Layered, Community Participation and Perceived Receptivity Survey (CPPRS), and Community Health Environment Checklist (CHEC) for those who are deaf and hard of hearing.
Ashley Wagner
Wagner has been developing an outcome measure using the PARTicipation Survey in Major Life Activities (PARTS) (General) and also the PARTS-Layered for an information and referral program offered at a local center for independent living. She plans to integrate the Community Health Environment Checklist (CHEC), Community Participation and Perceived Receptivity Survey (CPPRS), and Community Resource Index (CRI) into a Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping system.
Jacqueline Webel
Webel developed and tested a grocery and tourism version of the Community Health Environment Checklist (CHEC). She tested the Community Participation and Perceived Receptivity Survey (CPPRS) at more than 70 grocery stores and compared the results to the CHEC surveys of those same grocery stores.
Jennifer Yound
Yound has worked on developing a Community Health Environment Checklist (CHEC) for houses of worship. She also will test the CHEC-HOW and the Community Participation and Perceived Receptivity Survey (CPPRS) at various sites in the region.
